"I was born in São Leopoldo-RS on October 2, 1957. In 1975, I began working with my family in the leather workshop founded by my uncle in 1954. He initially crafted saddles for horseback riding and later began creating briefcases, suitcases and other accessories.
"The idea of our Guedes line was to try to combine contemporary ideas with classic styles, resulting in items that are modern but with an antique touch. We use leather with an aged or 'stone-washed' appearance and hardware with an old gold finish. It is important to note that the leather is tanned with water-based anilines, in other words, without carcinogens or agents that are harmful to the environment. For this reason, you may see the marks and textures that are feature of natural leather.
"All of Brazil's regions have their own characteristics. We are located in the south of the country. Due to our cold climate, leather is a basic material for making clothes and accessories, and our area has the largest herds of cattle in Brazil.
"Our idea is to present something modern and free but that also recalls nature, above all the earth, even if we live in an environment where concrete prevails. Our inspiration comes from observing the way the people live today, and seeking ways to make their movements more practical with accessories worn close to the body."
